New Zealand showjumpers Daniel Meech, Bruce Goodin and Richard Gardner are heading to the CSIO3* in Prague, where they have been invited to compete in a Nations Cup competition.
ESNZ high performance general manager Jock Paget says the invitation is a great opportunity for the Kiwi riders to compete at higher ranked shows, which are often difficult to gain entry to.
Bruce Goodin will compete in the CSIO3* with his stalwart campaigner Backatorps Danny V, Boateng 9 and Diarthago SN. Fourteen-year-old Dutch bred Danny was Bruce’s horse at the World Champs in Tryon (2018).
Boateng 9, a 10-year-old German-bred bay stallion, started competing internationally with Bruce in March, while 10-year-old Diarthago SN started with him in early 2021.
Daniel has Hi-5, a 10-year-old chestnut gelding who has been with him his whole international career, and Donjon D’Asschaut, a nine-year-old Selle Francais who joined the stable in late 2021.
Richard has his two 14-year-olds Calisto 5 and Cromwell 32 on the card. Calisto 5 has been with Richard since he started competing internationally in 2016, with Cromwell 32 joining the stable in 2017. Richard also has Carl Otto 5 and Ippolito in the CSIYH1* classes.
All three riders were on both the Abu Dhabi Nations Cup winning teams in 2018 and 2020.
The Nations Cup competition is one of two highlights in the Diamond Tour, the other being the World Cup Grand Prix. FEI level 4 qualified Gerard Lachat (SWITZ) is the course designer. The show has been organised by the Czech equestrian team and is a qualifier for both the 2022 Senior World Championships and 2023 European Championships.
