The Burmester’s have sponsored pieces for the Show Hunter Equitation series winners for several seasons, as well as previously sponsoring the Lady Rider of the Year class at Horse of the Year for a number of years.
One of New Zealand’s most respected goldsmiths, Ray Burmester had been handcrafting his elegant works of art for more than 30 years. Dedicated to creating treasured keepsakes, Ray established a range of equestrian jewellery, complemented by contemporary designs, that is beyond compare. Applying the tried-and-true method of designing and handcrafting each individual piece without the use of computer-aided design (CAD), Ray hand-made each master in Sterling Silver and personally hand-finished every piece of jewellery. While this classic method is more labour-intensive and time-consuming than the modern way, it renders a far superior product, setting Ray’s pieces apart from other contemporary jewellery.
Devastatingly, Ray passed away three years ago, but the jewellery line has been continued on by Cliff Majoribanks, one of Ray’s previous apprentices.
Based in North-West Auckland, Ray Burmester Equestrian Jewellery ships anywhere in the world with a money-back guarantee, so you can be confident in your purchase. Innovative designs and quality craftsmanship are assured when you acquire one of Ray’s exceptional pieces. Worn by some of the world’s top riders, including Olympic and World Equestrian Games gold medal winners, customers can expect pieces that are hard wearing and long lasting – perfect for horsey girls who never seem to take their jewellery off!
When Jane Burmester was asked what they would like to sponsor in Show Hunter this year, the Equitation Series were at the top of the list.
“With equitation they have to strive to be the best they can and you’ve got to look the part, which we thought was a good fit for us. It’s all about looking good, having good attire and gear. We thought our jewellery was very complementary to that.” The winners of the Amateur, Junior and Pony Rider Equitation Series will all be lucky enough to receive a treasured piece.
They are consistent sponsors at their local venue, Woodhill Sands, where they sponsor a huge range of classes and shows, including the recent Ray Burmester Memorial GP show in March 2022.
“All our jewellery is New Zealand designed and made. Ray worked from home, and Cliff is now working out of Ray’s workshop, they both tried to keep the costs down to make the pieces affordable for all riders – but that doesn’t detract from the quality or time and effort that they put into making each piece.”
