Zara Preece-Twose and her showy TC Piano Man swept to victory in the Country TV Pony Grand Prix class at Woodhill Sands at the weekend with the only clear of the opening round.

Eight started the class at the Fiber Fresh Grand Prix Showjumping event the 15-year-old Auckland rider was the only one to conquer the Wayne Bragg-designed course. Four-faulters Amelia Munro (Paremoremo) aboard MF Spot On and Alexandra Henry (Whangarei) with Mosaic of Renton filled second and third places.

Zara and TC Piano Man may have only had their first Pony Grand Prix start early in 2021 but now have three wins to their credit. She’s had the pony just over a year-and-a-half and feels he is only now coming into his own.

Other series’ classes winners included Kylee McCambridge (Cambridge) aboard Kan Kan NZPH in the Harrison Lane Pro-Am Rider Series (sponsored by GJ Gardner Homes), Jessica Trow (Whitford) on Kiwi Sunup in the Dunstan Horsefeeds Amateur Rider Series (sponsored by GJ Gardner Homes), Amelia Munro (Paremoremo) with Oaks Centurian in the Mainland Coachwork Junior Rider Series (sponsored by Veterinary Associates), and Michaelee Head (Cambridge) on Bellick ST taking out the Main-Events Tertiary Series.

Around 250 horses and riders competed at the two day show. Danielle Watts designed the courses in ring two with Christine and Edward Bullock, with support from Jane Callaghan tasked with ring three.
