Sponsors of the FMG Young Rider Series

It’s a love for horses that is the driving force for the FMG equine consultant team.

The company has been the sponsor of the Young Rider Series since 2016, and “like a good saddle, it’s a good fit”, says team leader Nicole Sara.

“We sponsor a range of community events and initiatives that align with our core values of supporting rural New Zealand,” says Nicole. “The jumping series provides an opportunity for young riders to demonstrate their skills in a sport that requires immense dedication.”

Equine insurance consultant Emma Hurrell says the relationship between a horse and its rider is a special one. “When you find the one horse that is right for you, the trust and connection you build with an animal of their size is a relationship like no other,” says Emma. “The equine team at FMG understands this  – we are a tight-knit crew working together with the same love of horses as our clients. We share laughs and tears and understand why having the right cover in place is important.”
It’s at events where Nicole Sara says the FMG team and the riders can make real connections.

“Our specialist equine team attend many events. Our consultants between them have a combination of years of experience and a true love for horses.  We can give riders information and advice that goes way beyond a simple insurance policy.”

COVID-19 restrictions and cancellations have made for a tough season for all. “We’re missing the face-to-face interactions at events with our clients, horse owners and equine lovers so we’re finding other ways to connect,” says Nicole.

The challenges of COVID-19 have created all sorts of pressures, and the FMG team are always available to lend an ear and have a chat.

FMG has been an important and much-valued part of the New Zealand farming landscape for more than 115 years. It was created by farmers for farmers and is still 100% New Zealand owned and operated.

As New Zealand’s leading rural insurer, it has 30 offices throughout the country all staffed by more than 800 employees who pride themselves in understanding its clients and supporting rural Kiwis to grow, be innovative and succeed.

As well as equine insurance, FMG insures lifestyle blocks and the many things that a standard city policy simply doesn’t cover. “Whether it’s your horse escaping and causing an accident, a tree falling onto your neighbour’s property, or your bridge or culverts getting washed out by a storm, FMG offer protection for the different risks that come with living rurally,” says Nicole.
