The Woodhill Sands Trust (WST) owns and operates Woodhill Sands Equestrian Centre (Woodhill Sands) in North-West Auckland. WST is an organisation that was established, with support from Equestrian Sports NZ and NZ Pony Clubs Association, for community ownership of this equestrian venue, securing its ongoing use as a competition and training venue for the riding community in Auckland and the upper North Island.

Woodhill Sands is the most used equestrian sports venue in New Zealand and aims to be the home for equestrian sports in Auckland.

WST purchased Woodhill Sands in 2017 with financial backing from Auckland Council. The venue is required to be operated in a business-like way to ensure that its obligations to stakeholders are satisfied on an ongoing basis.

WST is a not-for-profit organisation registered under The Charitable Trusts Act 1957 (no. 2643711). It is now seeking applications for positions on its Trust Board as current board member appointments come up for renewal, plus the Board is seeking to increase trustee appointments. Up to 2 or 3 appointments may be made.

The Trust Board invites applications from suitably qualified individuals with a mix of experience and strengths who are willing to contribute to delivering the governance leadership for the development of Woodhill Sands into the home of equestrian sports.

The ideal applicants will have a demonstrated interest in equestrian or community sports, or a background in public facility management.

Experience in some of the following areas will be essential:
• Governance experience, particularly within community organisations, facility management responsibilities, supplemented by commercial and financial acumen
• Knowledge and interest in community-based sports and recreational activities
• Ability to work alongside others in a collegial and respectful way
• Demonstrated strategic ability and stakeholder management skills
• Qualified accounting or financial management candidates will be prioritised for our Finance and Risk position
