With the season kicking off this weekend in wintery conditions, riders and horses stepped out in style even if the weather did not.  The Burmester Realty Spring Series show at Woodhill Sands led the way into the 2023 Summer season and was rewarded with quality competition.

The Harrison Lane Pro-Am Rider (in conjunction with G.J. Gardner Homes) saw three go clear and return to jump-off where Vicki Ridley on Mosaic II and Paxton Conder on La Fonteyn both delivered second clear rounds and Vicki taking the win by 2 seconds.   Olivia Glen and Balmoral Lassandra GNZ placed third after incurring four penalties in the jump-off.

Six riders delivered clears in the Dunstan Horsefeeds Amateur Rider (in conjunction with Alltech NZ) with three riders backing this up with a second clear.  Natalia Hall and Colorado Cruiser took the win in 46.21 seconds ahead of Emma Buckingham and Piccadilly Circus in 49.16 and Sarah Revis and Royal Blue just a smidgeon behind placing third in 49.89.

In the Mainland Coachwork Junior Rider (in conjunction with G.J. Gardner Homes) Matisse Masterson who placed fifth in the Mainland Coachwork Junior Rider series last season, partnered with Jay-Z GNZ to take the win and get first points on the leaderboard for 2023 season.

Once again Woodhill Sands showed the value of having an all-weather surface allowing the season to get underway in spite of less-than-ideal conditions.
