There’s plenty happening for Kiwi showjumpers competing at the Waratah Showjumping World Cup Show in Sydney this week.

The New Zealand Young Rider team will take on the Aussies in the popular and hotly contested annual Trans-Tasman Test. Australia-based Georgia Bouzaid has been joined by Johanna Wylaars (Christchurch), Liam Rutland (Te Awamutu) and Samantha Gillies (Oamaru), with the competition getting underway at 8.00pm NZ time today. It is run over three two round days, with all riders competing on borrowed mounts which are changed daily.

The hosts will be keen to back up their hard-won victory when the two teams last met in New Zealand in January this year.

Further up the ranks, Brooke Edgecombe aboard LT Holst Andrea and Sam Whale with Fleur DeLacour are competing in the Australian CSI1*-W World Cup league. Sam had a brilliant start to her Aussie campaign winning the Grand Prix at the Waratah Showjumping Warm Up Weekend where she also picked up a fourth in the 1.35m open and a second in the 1.30m on Idol D.

Samantha van Lierde has also crossed the Tasman with Cadillac NZPH and will compete up to 1.45m. Also flying the New Zealand flag high at Waratah is Gisborne FEI judge Kaye Williams.
