Eventing Southland held its first event for the season at Donovan Park on Sunday, sponsored by Betavet. Mother nature threw up a few challenges during the week, especially the night before, but big yellow came out for the day and made it very pleasant. The CD’s Jade McRae and Jim Hazlet produced good tracks that rode well and were well presented.
Disappointingly the CCN Saddlery Warehouse 2* only attracted 3 starters with Eventing Southland President Suzanne Black and Colton AF coming out on top.
Lauren Enright made the trip down from Christchurch worthwhile with a win in the Eastern Physiotherapy
CCN 105 on Beaumont Cash. Phillippa Stratford and the evergreen Peti Peti Wai were second.
Katrina Cook and Dixie produced one of the few double clear rounds of the day and continued where they left off last season, winning the CCN Witches Brew 95, from Corey Wood and CWS Monarch.
The Excel Equine NZPC 95 class was won by Abigail White on My Fine Line with Ava Hindrup and Harry Potter Bombarda second.
Jayne Beer and Token won the Gail Richardson Equine CCN 80 class from Lauren Enright and Jet.
The Comfy Equine Rubber Matting NZPC 80 class was won by Lily Faulkner on Southern Summer Rose and Jessie McGrougther on Bracken Ridge NV second.
Alma Wright and Painted Girl prevailed in the Saddle Tree CCN 65 from Andrea Wills and Marmekko.
Churchy’s and HT Oils NZPC 65 was won by Leida Joostens with Italy Walls second.
Udy’s grain and feed NZPC First Start class was won by Lauren McGowan on Jubilee Royal Affair from Harlen Penwarden and Buzz.
