Emily Twort has added another series crown to her trophy, this time the Carousel Equestrian Amateur High Points Series.

And it wasn’t the only ribbon the Kumeu combo rode off with. They were also second in the Petticoat Lane Performance Horses Adult Equitation Series, third in the NRM Open High Points Series, and placed second in the adult equitation final and fifth in the open high points final.

But the engineering geologist, who last year won the Petticoat Lane Performance Horses Adult Show Hunter Equitation Series, was quick to heap the praise on her horse Cameo KSNZ.

“She is just everything to me,” she said of the 11-year-old mare who has been with her since she was four. “She is so consistent. She knows when I am nervous and just grows. She knows what I am thinking and loves her job and competing. I am so thankful.”

The series was one of her goals for the season, but with lockdowns and COVID restrictions, Emily wondered if it would ever happen. As it was they won by just two points.

“Cameo just keeps on giving and did well at every show. It is awesome to actually pull it off.”

On hand to watch them star at the finale show were her parents Rachel Gillon and Warren Twort. “I simply couldn’t do it without their support.”

Emily started doing show hunter in 2010 and while has previously dabbled in both dressage and eventing, also turned her hand to amateur showjumping this season. “We’re just not that fast at that!”
