ESNZ Eventing wishes to advise members of the reopening of applications for expressions of interest for Young Rider Oceania 2022 with a revised age criteria. The revised age criteria now includes riders Under 25 years as per FEI rule article 503.1.4 – An athlete is eligible from the beginning of the year they reach the age of 16 until the end of the year they reach the age of 25.
The intention was to select the team of 4 combinations and reserves following the One Day Champs in Northland, however, unfortunately due to the small number of eligible combinations available for selection, the selectors are not able to confirm a team at this time. Both New Zealand and Australian federations recognise the importance of this competition and have therefore agreed to amend the age criteria for the NZ team for the 2022 competition to ensure the Oceania competition can take place and NZL can field a team in June.
Riders that wish to be considered for selection are asked to submit an application using the application form found here via email to Sport Manager, Hayley Pickmere [email protected] by 5pm Tuesday 26 April 2022. After this time, the selection panel will review all applications, including those already received, and confirm the next steps towards selection with the selection criteria and performance objective in mind.
