OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT –
RESCHEDULING OF SATURDAY AND SUNDAY COMPETITIONS (15 & 16 September 2018)

This is an Official Decision concerning the following competitions at the FEIWorld Equestrian GamesTM Tryon 2018:

  •   Eventing – Jumping Test

  •   Dressage – Individual Grand Prix Freestyle

  •   Reining – Individual Final

    The latest weather forecast from the National Weather Service, which has an onsite weather station here at the Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC), shows heavy rain starting on Saturday evening through Sunday. As a result, the Presidents of the Ground Jury, the Technical Delegates, the Presidents of the Veterinary Commissions for the Disciplines of Eventing, Reining and Dressage, in consultation with the Tryon 2018 Organising Committee, have taken the following respective decisions:

    Eventing

    Tomorrow’s (Saturday’s) cross country remains unaffected and will start at 11am as planned, but the interval between horses will be reduced to three minutes.

    It is planned to move the final Jumping phase for Eventing to Monday 17 September. Start time and horse inspection time to be confirmed.

    Dressage

    Depending on further weather updates, it is the intention to rescheduleSunday’s Dressage Freestyle to Monday. Start time to be confirmed.

    The time for the Dressage horse inspection for the 15 horses qualified for the Freestyle will remain unchanged at 8am tomorrow (15 September).

    Reining

    Tomorrow’s (Saturday’s) individual Reining Final will be brought forward to 3pm.

 

These decisions have been taken in accordance with Article 109.12 of the FEI General Regulations which states:

“Subject to the unanimous agreement of the President of the Ground Jury, Technical Delegate and President of the Veterinary Committee in consultation with the Organiser, a Competition (either before or during) can be postponed and/or cancelled, not only due to force majeure, catastrophic occurrences, extreme weather conditions but also for non-compliance with FEI Rules and in specific situations where the welfare or safety of the Horses, Athletes, Officials or the public is compromised.”
