Dressage competition is the test of training. Not only do you compete against other combinations in the class, there is the opportunity to compete against your own previous score. Dressage NZ offers a wide choice of competitions and series from Local to International Events

National Dressage Series

There is a national series for every rider to participate in including open and restricted categories including Pony & Young Riders, Amateurs, and Masters.

Bates National Championships

2019 will celebrate 21 years Bates Saddles support of the NZ Dressage Championships to be held at Manfeild Park from 14th to 17th February 2019. All levels of championships will be contested plus international events  CDI 3*/CDI 2* / CDIY / CDIP. 

Equestrian Entries U25 NZ Championships

The 2018 Equestrian Entries Under 25 Championships will be held at the Taupo NEC on 21/22 April in conjunction with the NI Future Stars event. The Future Stars event will run from 19/22 April and will also incorporate the 2018 FEI World Dressage Challenge and NI Young Horse Championships for horses and ponies.  

FEI World Dressage Challenge

The FEI World Dressage Challenge is an International Development Competition supported and organised globally by the FEI. The aim of this Competition is to give the less experienced Dressage riders the opportunity to compete internationally without having to leave their own country.


FEI Competitions

FEI competitions are run under the jurisdiction of the FEI and complying with FEI rules for Dressage, General Regs and Veterinary Regulations.  These are updated annually on 1st January.  Riders entering in FEI competitions have a responsibility to understand the rules which can be found at

2018 North Island Festival of Future Stars

2018 will be the first year of the exciting new NI Future Stars event. To be held over four days from 19/22 April at the Taupo NEC, this exciting new event will incorporate Young Horse & Pony Classes and the FEI World Dressage Challenge on Thursday 19th  & Friday 20th,  followed by the Equestrian Entries U25 Championships. The schedule will be published here early in 2018, but diary the date now. Applications for Trade Sites or Sponsorship packages will be available from: Event Manager [email protected]



2018 South Island Festival of Future Stars

The 2018 event will be held at McLeans Island hosted by Dressage Canterbury on 14/15 April following a very successful inaugural event in 2017.  International judges will again be secured for this event with a variety of classes showcasing all aspects of the future of dressage
