The 2016 Olympic Games were held in Rio de Janeiro the first time the games have been held in South America. The Equestrian competition takes place at the Rio Olympic Equestrian Centre. The Olympic Equestrian Centre at Deodoro was built for the 2007 Pan American Games. Modernised and expanded for the Rio 2016 Games, it includes a main arena for jumping, dressage and eventing, cross country course, training arenas and on-site veterinary clinic. It covers a total of over a million square metres.
New Zealand is represented by an Eventing Team of four riders and a individual Dressage rider.
