2020 Olympic Games, Tokyo 2

Date: 23rd July – 8th August
Venue: Tokyo Equestrian Park Baji Koen & Sea Forest Park XC

The 2020 Olympic Games were held in 2021 following the postponement of the Games in 2020 due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. It was a game like we have never seen before with no spectators allowed and strict Covid-19 protocols in place. The Equestrian competition in Tokyo was at the 1964 Olympic legacy venue hosted the equestrian competitions at the Tokyo 1964 Games, however, underwent a complete revamp to provide the highest class of facilities. The Eventing Cross Country was held at Sea Forest Park.

These games saw a change in the format for each of the equestrian disciplines. Teams consisted of three riders and there was no drop score. Instead, each team was able to have an alternate combination which was able to be substituted into the team at various stages during the competition. In some cases, such a substitution came with a penalty to the team score.

New Zealand was represented by an Eventing and Jumping Team.
