Strangles
7.7.26: We are mindful of the Strangles outbreak in the Waikato region which, at this stage, appears to be contained within the TB Racing/Training facilities. There are no major events planned at the Fiber Fresh NEC Taupō, however advice from ESNZ Veterinary General Tony Parsons for anyone travelling is:
- Only bring horses not showing any clinical signs.
- Only stable horses together that have travelled together. At least 2 stables gap between groups.
- Special attention to sharing equipment and horse contact when out in the field.
- Good muck-out with removal of all organic material.
Although there are currently no concerns at NEC Taupō, we believe that good biosecurity is everyone’s responsibility and that taking sensible precautions helps protect our horses and our equestrian community. We also encourage competitors and visitors to continue practising good hygiene and biosecurity measures throughout their stay.
