2017-18 Squad Training Programme

Alongside newly selected squads, the entire training programme for National Jumping squads has been revamped for 2017-18.

Introducing a new and improved ESNZ Jumping Performance Pathway that provides the roadmap for success from junior rider level to the Olympic Games and WEG.

Jumping Performance Programme for 2017-18 Receives a Revamp

There was feedback from those who attended training camps last year that they could be better tailored to suit the needs of squad riders. In acknowledgement of this, we have applied more funding to the camps and amplified the programme on offer.

The new programme includes funding on a sliding scale for squad riders to attend three training camps throughout the season.

There will also be a strong focus on Individual Performance Plans for squad riders which will be completed at the September NI and SI camps as well as presentations and seminars on topics like sport psychology.

The new programme aims to assist NZ riders in reaching the next level, and incentivises Jumping’s performance pathway by adding value for riders through comprehensive training and development.

As set out in Jumping’s Performance Pathway and as a condition for receiving funding, training camps (excluding Rob Ehren’s Clinic) are compulsory for squad riders to attend, unless a valid reason is provided.
