Organising Committee Representative (Deputy Chair)

Outside my professional life I have been interested in horses from an early age. When my children became involved with Pony Club and Eventing in 2008 I became heavily involved in equestrian sports, in both a formal governance capacity and informal roles. I have a strong sense of purpose, and ability for getting things done. I am able to communicate in a clear manner. I have good leadership skills and enjoy working collaboratively. I respect and value people from all backgrounds.

Being part of Wellington Organising Committee (OC) has meant I have been interested in how events are run and the people involved. I believe I am in a good position to create and maintain effective relationships with people on other OCs around New Zealand, canvassing their views and representing their interests on the ESNZ Eventing Board.

I grew up in a mildly horsey family in the UK. After school I spent four years working for Lars
Sederholm, a leading show jump and 3-day event trainer at the time. Not being particularly brave, I only competed to intermediate level.

After a break, my interest in eventing was reignited when my son began competing in horse trials in the mid-90s. Since then, I have very much enjoyed being part of the sport as a groom, supporter and occasional owner.

When I retired after 30 years in a communications role with a multi-national company, I joined the very small Puhinui Organising Committee, which has given me a good understanding of the
challenges faced by organising committees.

My role is to help the Board assist organising committees in any way possible. Good communication is very important, and I encourage organising committee members to raise any questions or concerns at our Zoom meetings or by contacting me or Rosie Edwards.

Wendy Lansdown

Technical Advisory Group Representative

I trained as an Early Childhood teacher and have spent most of my working life working with families in the community. I am currently delivering a grief, loss and change programme to children.

My husband and I farm out of Dannevirke where I have always had my horses, having ridden from the time I was very small. I evented then rode Dressage post having children until getting into Eventing again with my daughter.

I loved being involved in Eventing so when she finished riding to pursue Vet School, I became a TD.

I am a List 1 National TD, hoping to become an FEI TD shortly (a very Covid interrupted wait!!).

I have been Chair of NZPCA and am currently Board Chair of a local Community organisation. I am Chair of Central and Southern HB Eventing, based at Arran Station.

I have been a member of the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) for three years and have recently been made the Chair.
