Molly Buist Brown was told about a horse for sale a couple of years ago, and she liked what she saw on the sales advertisement, so much so, that she brought the four year old sight unseen and picked her straight up from the breakers. Just two years on, Molly has won the NZ Warmblood Association Six Year Old Breeding Series on that very horse. The horse in question? The lovely SLE Limoncello.

Limoncello was bred by Jan Hunt, she is by Pennsylvania and out of the Voltaire II sired NVME. Together with Molly, they contested a few shows as a five year old and stepped up well to continue into the six year old classes.
“I just love her; she is the sweetest and easiest baby that I have ever had, I will keep her for another season at least and then see what happens!”

Molly didn’t set out to chase the series, as she doesn’t travel up north and there are less shows to contend with in the South Island, so she was surprised to find out that she was winning the series as the season was coming to a close.
“She is so consistent, her worst score all season was one rail down. She also did the Trans-Tasman Young Rider Test at Nationals, where two Aussies rode her. That was really cool to watch”.

This season, Molly is aiming Limoncello for the NZPH Seven Year Old Young Horse Series, and whilst she won’t set out chasing the series, her plans may change if she finds herself sitting at the top of the leaderboard again.
