The Poverty Bay Showgrounds held the postponed Larsens Sawmilling Jumping Championships, and whilst there was a little drizzle around, competitors came out in force to contend for those valuable series points as we approach the pointy end of the Jumping season.

Sofia Williams’ fairytale season on Grassendale Enzo continued as she picked up another Property Brokers Grand Prix win, this time locally supported by Larsens Sawmilling, her sixth of the season to be exact and extends her lead on the series leaderboard. The two round competition ended up being a battle between Sofia and Ben Weir. Sofia picked up four faults in the second round after keeping a clean slate in the first round, and Ben riding Cirrius GNZ vice versa, with a four fault first round and a clear second round, but it was Sofia and Enzo who posted a faster time to take out the class. Sofia and Enzo also won the FMG Young Rider, locally supported by FMG Gisborne, with the only clear.

Lottie Bull also extended her lead on the AMS Saddlery Pony Grand Prix Series Leaderboard, when she won the class, locally supported by East Coast Wools & Wisewools. Clear rounds eluded the riders, but Lottie and TCG Centadel did enough to pick up maximum points.
Michelle Wakeling closed the gap slightly on The Brave Pants Company Pro Am Series leaderboard when she picked up maximum points in the class that was locally supported by Ngahiwi Sport Horses. Both Michelle riding BMW Chaccolilli, and Noni Morgan on Starlight Discovery picked up four faults in the first round, but an additional two time faults to Noni’s score handed the win to Michelle.

The Dunstan Horsefeeds Amateur Rider, locally supported by Randall Construction, saw just the one clear from Sally Clark aboard Centarace, with Fraser Babbington coming in second on Glastonbury MSNZ with four faults, but the Mainland Coachwork Junior Rider, locally supported by EJ Gordon Livestock and Canter for Cancer) saw four combinations contend the jump off. Hannah McConnell set the standard on Caviar, with a double clear round in 39.02, laying down the gauntlet for those who followed. Eva Wylaars riding Centanna II, well and truly beat her time, but one rail on the floor saw them finish in second place. Hannah also picked up third place on ME KD’s Affair with a four fault round, just a touch slower than Eva.

The top three on the NZPH Seven Year Old Breeding Series leaderboard battled it out in the jump off, locally supported by VetEast. Hannah Roil jumped a double clear on Grassendale Xtreme (Corofino II x Casa Rosa MVNZ/Pico Bello, bred by Sharleen Workman) to stay on top of the leaderboard. Maurice Beatson picked up eight faults on LV Ellie (Elkintot x Black Grace/Postponed, bred by Little Valley Farm) for second place, and Johanna Wylaars and Demietta (Daminos x Octavia Queen/Don Quattro) finished on a total of twelve faults for third place.
Local rider Molly McEwan had a great show on her Gisborne bred Tinda, picking up some nice wins and placings.
Show Jumping Auckland – Abderry
Last weekend, Showjumping Auckland hosted two series classes at Abderry, both of which were won with a sole clear. Kirsten Worker riding Melanie’s Choice finished at the top of the class in the Dunstan Horsefeeds Amateur Rider, locally supported by Chris Fougere Orthopaedic Surgeon, and Hannah McConnell won the Mainland Coachwork Junior Rider, in the saddle of Charlton Elite.

The Jumping Team
