ESNZ are excited to announce the selection of the senior and young rider (U25) teams to contest the Oceania Championships at the Adelaide Equestrian Festival 16-19 April.

The senior team competition will be held at CCI4*-S level, with the young rider team as part of the CCI3*-L competition.

This is the first year that the Young Rider Oceania competition will be held as U25, where it has historically been U21. This change was agreed by both NZ & Australia as a positive move to ensure horse & rider combinations have both sufficient time and opportunities to become established at 3* level and compete in a teams’ competition under championship conditions.

The New Zealand team is set to depart for Adelaide on 12th April for the weeklong trip with the horses travelling to Australia with IRT.

The trans-Tasman dates back to 1985 when the first one was held in Gawler. The New Zealand senior team – comprising Tinks Pottinger on Volunteer, Trudy Boyce with Mossman, Karen Tweedie aboard Sandalwood, and Judith Charleston on High Rate – won the title. Both nations have shared success at Senior and Young Rider level over the years and took a win each during the last Oceania at the Horse of the Year Show in 2024, where Australia won the senior title and New Zealand the Young Rider.
