All eyes were on the South Island last weekend, and whilst the sun shone on the Central Otago Spring Show, the Canterbury A&P Show had some wild weather thrown their way that saw some true commitment from the competitors.

In Canterbury, Emma Gillies was first and third in the FMG Young Rider. She took out the class on her World Cup mount, Lafayet Ego Z, by posting the quickest of the two double clears. Benrose Black Jack was the quickest four faulter in the first round for third place. Sandwiched in between was Johanna Wylaars riding Demietta who also jumped a double clear for second place.

In the saddle of Sienna MVNZ, Grace Percy jumped the only double clear to win The Brave Pants Company Pro Am. Sonia McKerchar rode Riverhills Bayliner around the shortened course for the quickest time, but four faults left them in second place.

Molly Smith won the Mainland Coachwork Junior Rider on Dynavyte Caribou DL with the only clear round, as did Kate Perry aboard Chronos QSH in the Dunstan Horsefeeds Amateur Rider.

Five faults was a good enough score for Eva Wylaars to win the AMS Saddlery Pony Grand Prix on Larabelle, keeping up their 100% win rate in this series so far.

Quinn for the Win

Down in Otago, eight faults was the best score in the first round of the FMG Young Rider. Riding Delphine NZPH, Cara Quinn posted a clear jump off round to win the class with Summer Borrie and Pure Cascade settling for second place after dropping a rail.

Jane Hunt jumped the only clear round on Rabbit, to win The Brave Pants Company Pro Am. In the same fashion, Kendra van Leeuwen won the Mainland Coachwork Junior Rider with the sole clear round. Jessica Hore also jumped a clear round on Beaumont Cassanova in this class, but picking up one costly time fault prevented a jump off.

Riding Buzzie Bees Max, Grace Roy posted a four fault round, that took her to the top of the leaderboard in the AMS Saddlery Pony Grand Prix.
