The Wairarapa A&P celebrated their 146th A&P show with great success. This show is the last A&P that is still going in the Wellington area, and they welcomed a large number of attendees through the gates, bettering last year’s numbers.

Last year she won the Pony Grand Prix, this year, after successfully stepping up on to hacks, she went out and won the Property Brokers Horse Grand Prix. It’s certain to say that Sofia Williams is a young lady with a very bright future. Partnered up with the lovely Grassendale Enzo, Sofia jumped the only double clear to take out the class. In the saddle of Kings Larkin, Kelly Smith joined Sofia in the jump off, but elected to retire after picking up four faults, for a tidy second place.

That wasn’t Sofia’s only success of the weekend, as she also picked up a win in the FMG Young Rider, this time riding Royal MVNZ. They jumped a double clear in 43.45, and were challenged by Charlotte Scott riding Double J Wilbur, who were the only other combination to jump a double clear, coming home in 44.98,  just shy of the winning time for second place.

Charlotte Scott went one better in the Mainland Coachwork Junior Rider where she was the fastest of the double clears aboard Leisure Time Larry. Isla Bowley and Balboa NZPH also kept a clean slate for second place.

Lucy Fell scored another win in The Brave Pants Company Pro Am, riding the spicy Faratona STS, she stormed home in 42.92 and all clear. Vania Mason on Pure Silhouette completed the course in 45.35 for second place and Tanya Hansen riding Ngahiwi Specter finished closely behind in 45.37 for third place.

Marcus Rose and Royal Otis took the top spot in the Dunstan Horsefeeds Amateur Rider, going double clear in 40.75. John MacLennan riding Tolley were also double clear, in 42.21 for second. Nigel Horton aboard Mandalay Cove had the fastest time in the jump off, but one down left them in third place.

Daniella Jelliman continued her dream season, winning yet another AMS Saddlery Pony Grand Prix on Tallyho Scoundrel by jumping the only clear round.

A few hundred kilometres away, Ashburton also held their A&P show, where the rain leading up to the show made for some fantastic footing.

It was a one horse race in the FMG Young Rider, but a clear round solidified the win for Molly Moffatt riding Onessa MVNZ. Maygen Gubb jumped the only clear round in the Mainland Coachwork Junior Rider to secure the win on PL Fox D’Amour.

The Dunstan Horsefeeds Amateur Rider couldn’t have had a tighter finish. Candace Kingsbury jumped double clear on Allie Saab, stopping the clock in 49.19. Andrew Munro riding Estelle also pulled a double clear out the bag, they stopped the clock in 49.20! Gayle Baker and Larnaca gave it their best shot, and in fact had the fastest time in the jump off, but one rail came down to leave them in third place.
