Equestrian Sports New Zealand (ESNZ) is on the lookout for a dedicated and experienced medical professional to lead and advise on all things related to equestrian athlete health and welfare.

🔍 Role Overview
As Chief Medical Advisor, you will:
- Provide medical guidance to the ESNZ Technical Committee on injury prevention, sports medicine, and rider welfare
- Support the ESNZ Athlete Clean Sport Programme, interpreting WADA/Sport Integrity Commission guidelines
- Advise officials and event organisers on medical and anti-doping protocols
- Assist with coordination of medical care and doping control at ESNZ Championships
- Contribute to educational initiatives (e.g., concussion awareness, injury prevention)
- Track rider injury and safety trends within NZ equestrian sport
- Advocate for best practices in athlete health and wellbeing
- Participate in Technical Committee meetings (twice annually)
✅ Selection Criteria
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
- Medical qualifications (ideally with a sports medicine background)
- Strong communication skills and the ability to translate complex medical ideas clearly
- A good grasp of anti-doping regulations (prior experience preferred but not essential)
- Timely availability for phone/email consultation
- A collaborative and solutions-focused approach
- Previous equestrian experience (a bonus but not a must)
- A strong belief in ethical sport and rider welfare
⏳ Time Commitment & Remuneration
- Approx. 1–2 hours per week, depending on season and need
- Honorary position, with specific remuneration open for discussion
- Flexible, consultative role with the option to delegate tasks to qualified substitutes
