It’s been a busy week for New Zealand showjumpers who have been competing all over the globe.
The Kiwis have been on form at Thunderbird in the US where Tokyo Olympian Uma O’Neill and Luigi d’Eclipse were second in the CSIO4* 1.50m Nations Welcome Qualifier. The single rounder was won by Daniel Coyle (IRL) aboard Incredible who were clear in 63.1 seconds with Uma also all clean in her 66.16 second round.
Katie Laurie has been busy with her team at the show. She and Olyda VD Bisschop were eighth in the CSIO4* 1.55m Grand Prix. Eighteen started the class with just five coming back for the jump-off. Daniel Coyle (IRL) and Incredible won the class with a double clear in 39.89 seconds. Katie had seven in the opener for her eighth placing.
Katie teamed up with Tulara Zirensky for seventh in the CSIO4*1.50m which was won by McKayla Langmeier (USA) aboard Chadina. Seven came back for the jump-off where Katie picked up 12 in her 34.76 second round. McKayla won on a double clear in 33.16.
World Cup finalists Luke Dee and Gangster WW picked up a ninth in CSIO5* at St Gallen in Switzerland in the 52-strong 1.5m, a qualifier for the Grand Prix. Fourteen came back for the jump-off where the top 12 kept their slates clean. The class was won by Roger Yves Bost (FRA) aboard Embassy du Chateau who crossed the flags in 42.17 seconds. Luke and Gangster were all clear in 46.07.
Richard Gardner and Calisto 5 placed third in the CSI3* 1.50m Grand Prix qualifier at Munchen-Riem in Germany. Thirty-five started the class with the top 10 all double clear. Richard and Calisto 5 came home in 45.8 seconds, with Thomas Ryan (IRL) and Connoisseur PWR winning in 42.74.
Daniel Meech and Ortolaan Van Het Ruytinxbos were 10th in the 1.45m CSI3* Sprinprufung Fehler/Zeit. The Kiwi combo were clear in 81.34 seconds in the single round speed class that was won by Thomas Ryan (IRL) aboard Jezebeau BC who came home in 75.93.
In the 1.45m two phase, Daniel and Casalligo were 10th and Richard aboard Carl Otto 5 were 11th. The class was won by Detlef jun. Kaiser (GER) aboard Chelsea 187 with a double clear in 40.45, Daniel picked up eight in the second phase in his 43.61 second round while Richard had eight in his opening round.
