All roads led to the Power Farming Brookby Show this weekend where the weather proved to be as good as the competition.

Sophia Blackbourn landed herself another FMG Young Rider win, this time locally supported by Inkster Landscape, by jumping the only clear round aboard Roxette ECPH. This win looks to take Sophia to the top of the series leaderboard with just a few shows left to contend those valuable series points.

The Brave Pants Company Pro Am – locally supported by Andrew Bowen NZ Arenas, saw four combinations contest the jump off where two completed the two rounds with a  total of four faults. The quickest of those was Megan Stephens & Gale who stopped the timers in 49.03, just ahead of Alexandra Hathaway & Chacco Gold MS in 52.15.

The Mainland Coachwork Junior Rider – locally supported by AMS Saddlery saw a fast a furious jump off, with three out of four combinations going double clear. Zara Main & Frankton ZQN were the fastest of these in 30.91, with Mitchell Cowan & My Centastage and Cara Quinn & Haupouri Dakota NZPH coming in just short of the winning time in 33.96 and 37.46 respectively. Matisse Masterson and Jay-Z GNZ’s time was good enough for second place, but leaving a rail on the floor left them just outside the podium in fourth. There is sure to be a fight to finish at the top of the series leader board, with Mitchell, Matisse and Zara all sitting in the top three currently.

Josh Bremner has had a couple of weeks to remember as just shy of a fortnight ago, he rode LT Holst Francis away with the Amateur Rider of the Year Title at the Defender Horse of the Year Show. He backed up his title confidently by sitting on top of the podium at Brookby in the Dunstan Horsefeeds Amateur Rider. A win that may just see him edge ahead of Jillian Watson on the series leaderboard. With only three shows remaining on the calendar, it certainly is all to play for, and needless to say, Josh was stoked with his mare’s performance.  “It was an awesome result at Brookby, and the mare is running so fresh for this stage in the season. We’ll continue to keep pushing for points as the season is coming to an end, and aim to do the best we can in the amateur series”.

Kate Ormond from Brookby Showjumping said ” Auckland Power Farming Show Jumping was a huge success, especially considering it was just a week after HOY! I wasn’t quite sure how entries would go, but we were thrilled to have a strong turnout, and everyone had a fantastic show.  It was particularly exciting to welcome a couple of groups from the South Island for the first time—they got to experience our facilities, and we loved having them join us. The atmosphere was fantastic, and it was great to see all our competitors having such a fun and enjoyable time.  We have tried to add on some variety to our shows from our newbie 40cm class, pony club class all the way to mini prix, and it’s great to see everyone giving it a go. Thank you to everyone who took part—we can’t wait to do it all again!”
