Jonelle Price and Samantha Lissington will be flying the Kiwi flag high at the hotly contested FEI WBFSH Eventing World Breeding Championships in France this week.

Jonelle lines up in the YH-CCI2*-L for six-year-olds aboard Faerie Good Golly while Samantha has two horses,  Never Know MB in the six-year-old class and Mr Cookie Time in the YH-CCI3*-L for seven-year-olds.

The CCI2* has attracted 46 combinations from 24 countries and has a 19,900 Euro prize purse up for grabs while in the seven-year-olds the 67 combinations from 15 countries in the 3* are chasing a slice of the 32,450 Euros prize purse.

The dressage runs over Thursday and Friday, followed by the Pierre Michelet (FRA) designed cross country on Saturday and the Jean Pierre Cosnuan (FRA) designed showjumping on Sunday.

New Zealand official Stuart Bishell is on the ground jury for the 3*.

Last year Amanda Goldsbury and Cooley on Ice were third in the six-year-old championship with Samantha and Quantas R fifth in the seven-year-old championship.

Tim Price is the last Kiwi to have won the breeding championships when he and Happy Boy took the seven-year-old crown in 2019.

The event is held in the majestic grounds of the Parc Départemental de l’Isle Briand in Le Lion d’Angers and celebrated as it is often where the stars of tomorrow are discovered.
