With the unfortunate cancellation of SCNO’s annual Spring has Sprung show due to adverse weather conditions, it was only the Woodhill Group’s Grand Prix show that went ahead this weekend.
The battle for series points couldn’t have started in a better fashion, with some good old sibling rivalry in the Brave Pants Company’s (supported by the Woodhill Group) Pro Am, where sisters Nakeysha and Natalia Lammers went head to head in the jump off. Nakeysha Dickey aboard Flamenco sped around the Dannielle Watts built shortened course nearly seven seconds quicker than younger sister Natalia Lammers on Puro Crystallo, giving her the win.
“I was very happy with how Mango (Flamenco) performed this weekend. This was his first big win, so it’s a great achievement for him”.
Nakeysha’s good fortune didn’t stop there and she certainly had a show to remember by also taking out the ‘main event’ in the Property Brokers Grand Prix – locally supported by the Woodhill Group- on her great mate Balboa NZPH. They finished the two rounds on a clean slate, just ahead of ring two’s course builder, Edward Bullock and Kiwi Sundance.
“I’m very proud of Rocky -as Balboa is known at home- for jumping his heart out to produce two clear rounds for me today. He was feeling great and gave me his all, and I couldn’t be happier with him. Thanks go to all of our amazing sponsors and family for all of their support”.
There must have been something magical in the water at the Lammer’s household, as Natalia also went on to quinella the Veterinary Associates Equine Grand Prix Super Series. She jumped the only two clear rounds, with Puro Crystallo finishing slightly ahead of Puro Chaccola for the win.
It was Captain’s ahoy in the Mainland Junior Coachwork Junior Rider (locally supported by GJ Gardner Homes) where five out of the fourteen starters went through to the jump off, but it was Keira Featherstone and the delightful stallion Capatino GNZ who took out the class in convincing style. Second place went to Meah Bradley on Capitano, with Matt Taylor & Kiwi Windfall picking up third and Coco Fougere & The Boss in fourth, all jumping double clear.
Young gun Keira and her faithful steed ‘Kev’ had a fantastic show, as they also picked up a win in the Woodhill Group 1.15m and the 1.20m! Keira then continued her winning streak to take out the Shelley Bridgeman Pony Grand Prix Super Series on Redcliffs Skux Delux.
Sophia Blackbourn may as well be known as King Midas, as recently, everything she touches seems to turn to gold. She took out her fourth FMG Young Rider (this time locally supported by Shelley Bridgeman) on the bounce, however she opted to give her superstar LT Holst Zalato Blue the weekend off, and instead, won on Roxette ECPH with the sole double clear. Sophia Maud came home with four faults in the jump off on Adloo Annabelle for second place.
Natalia Hall & Colorado Cruiser won the Dunstan Horsefeeds Amateur Rider in convincing style by jumping the only double clear. Alexia Searchfield & Warpaint Pandora and Megan Schischka & Rock It both picked up four faults in the jump off, finishing in second and third respectively.
The Woodhill crew look forward to welcoming everyone back again in a couple of weeks for the Shelley Bridgeman Grand Prix Show.
