ESNZ Jumping’s DNA Verified Pedigree Rule for the Breeding Series – Commencing 1 August 2025
What is a DNA Verified Pedigree?
A DNA verified pedigree includes proof of age/mating, identification and microchipping completed by a vet as well as the DNA profile of the horse that has been verified to one OR both parents, in accordance with the breed society/studbook’s criteria.
To obtain a DNA verified pedigree, the horse needs to be registered with a breed society or studbook. Only breed societies and studbooks are given access to stallion DNA profiles by stallion suppliers, owners and/or agents.
Do you have a branded thoroughbred? – Your horse will already have a DNA verified pedigree. Contact www.loveracing.co.nz to obtain it. Any non-studbook thoroughbreds can register with www.sphanz.co.nz

Dispensations
ESNZ Jumping will consider dispensations for horses born before 31.7.2024 in cases in which there is no access to hair samples for DNA testing from either parent. The requirements for applying for a dispensation are that a vet will microchip the horse, complete the ESNZ ID paper and take a hair sample for DNA testing.
The hair sample is to be sent to Infogene NZ for DNA testing and report. On receipt of the DNA report, it is to be sent with a covering letter outlining the circumstances for the dispensation request, and completed ESNZ ID papers including microchip number to [email protected]
