Eventer Clarke Johnstone finished agonisingly just off the podium at the Strzegom October Festival in Poland. Clarke and Aces High led the 16-strong CCI4*-L field with a 27.5 penalty point dressage effort, coming home clear and inside time in the cross country, but three rails in the showjumping this morning proved costly and they finished on 39.3. The class was won by Christoffer Forsberg (SWE) aboard Hippo’s Sapporo on 30.5 with Julien Despontin (BEL) on Clever Man WAF second with a score of 34.9, and Andrew Hoy (AUS) third aboard Cadet de Beliard on 37.3.

Meanwhile in showjumping, Tom Tarver and Phillip Steiner were both top 11 in the CSIO4*-S on the Morocco Royal Tour in Rabat.

Tom aboard Fiber Fresh Popeye and Phillip on Cassina Dior had four faults a piece in the 1.50m qualifier which they both replicated in the 1.55m World Cup Grand Prix. The top 10 went through to the jump-off where Tom and Popeye were all clear – albeit carrying four from the opener – in a time of 42.64 seconds to claim eighth spot. Phillip and Cassina Dior had the last fence down and didn’t progress to the second round for an 11th place finish.

The 32-strong class was won by Marine Scauflaire (BEL) aboard Cuba Libre de Nevada Z who were double clear in 41.53. Roberto Previtali (ITA) and Conthargo-Blue were second, all clear in 41.69, with Jeanne Sadran (FRA) aboard Kosmo Van Hof Boone third in 42.09.
