East Coast Performance Horses Five Year Old Series
Brooke Edgecombe couldn’t be happier with her newly crowned East Coast Performance Horses Five-Year-Old Series winner Inca NZPH (by Up to You out of a Pezatas du Rouet mare).
She’s long admired the horse in the hands of her previous owner Julie Davey, securing ownership in late January. “I liked her consistency and the way she jumps,” said Brooke. “She is a very straight forward ride . . . she’s brave, careful and tries so hard.”
She feels the age group series is the perfect place to bring youngsters through. “You get to compete with their peers and it is a nice height and even playing field for them.”
Brooke has high hopes Inca could step up eventually to fill the very big shoes of her top horse LT Holst Andrea.
“Inca is very easy to have around and has lovely attributes that remind me of Andrea,” she says.
Finishing second to Brooke in the series was Amy McMullan (Timaru) on Copacabana GNZ (by Lordano out of a Lindberg Des Hayettes mare), with Kimberly Carrington (Takapau) aboard Double J Saga (by Euro Sport Centavos out of a Double J Repicharge mare) in third, Johanna Wylaars (Christchurch) on AH California Dreaming (by Centaros out of a Littorio mare) fourth, Jesse Linton (Hastings) with Icarus NZPH (by Up to You out of a Mr Blue mare) in fifth, and Ash Hart (Hastings) on Kiwi Bonanza (by Capatino GNZ out of a Colando GNZ mare) rounding out the top six.
Brooke secured the series win after taking the series grand final (co-sponsored by Equimatch) today with a lovely double clear to take the overall win by six points. The 11 starters in this morning’s grand final were whittled down to just two for the jump-off where Brooke went head-to-head with Kimberly Carrington (Takapau) aboard Double J Saga (by Euro Sport Centavos out of a Double J Repicharge mare), who had to settle for second after taking two rails. Third went to Ash Hart (Hastings) aboard Kiwi Bonanza (by Capatino GNZ out of a Colando GNZ mare), with Johanna Wylaars (Christchurch) aboard AH California Dreaming (by Centaros out of a Littorio mare) fourth, Samantha van Lierde (Cambridge) and Iconic NZPH (by Vleut out of a Kannan mare) fifth, and Hana Bognuda (Hunterville) on WSJ Centrefold (by Euro Sport Centavos out of a Damontes LS mare) in sixth.
