Brooke Edgecombe and her lovely mare LT Holst Andrea speedy and very clean efforts won the day in the EvoEvents Horse Grand Prix class at the Central Hawke’s Bay A&P Show.

Three of the seven starters came back for the jump-off where both Brooke Edgecombe (Waipukurau) on LT Holst Andrea, and Kathryn Loiselle (Hawkes Bay) with Haupouri Drama NZPH both continued to keep their slates clear. However, Brooke and Andrea’s speedy 77.19 second effort edged out Kathryn’s 84.7 round.

Maurice Beaton (Dannevirke) was third with his very consistent Central Park and fifth on Gold Locks, with Vicki Wilson (Hawke’s Bay) and her stallion Carpaccio TWS in fourth.

Anna Wilson (Waipukurau) and Redcliffs Bill upset another Penny Borthwick (Masterton) quinella with her ponies Rednalhgih Cowan and Foxden’s Merlot in the Country TV Pony Grand Prix class. They were the only three combinations from the 11 starters to come through to the jump-off where Redcliffs Bill and Rednalhgih Cowan were both double clear, with the nod going Penny’s way with her 46.69 second effort to Anna’s 48.56. Foxden’s Merlot was super quick, stopping the clock at 41.95 seconds, but picked up four penalties for third place.

Takapau sisters Kimberly and Samantha Carrington had a great show. Kimberly and Double J Barmaid took out the Mainland Coachwork Junior Rider Series class, and she then teamed up with Double J Typhoon to win the FMG Young Rider Series class. She and Typhoon were also fourth in the Matthews Hanoverians Seven-Year-Old Series class. Both young women featured in the line-up of the East Coast Performance Horses Five-Year-Old Series class, with Kimberly on Double J Saga and Samantha on Double J Nike first equal.

The show ran over two days and was held at the Central Hawke’s Bay A&P Showgrounds.
