There’s a quad of Kiwi eventers heading to Military Boekelo Enschede in The Netherlands this week where they’ll go head-to-head against other top combinations for the final round of the FEI Eventing Nations Cup competition.

Tim Price, Jonelle Price, Amanda Pottinger, and Dan Jocelyn will be up against the likes of Germany, France, Great Britain, Italy, the United States, Ireland and others for honours in the CCIO4*-NC-L.

Tim is no stranger to Boekelo. In 2014 was in the winning Nations Cup team aboard Bango and in 2017 won the CCIO3*-NC individually aboard Cekatinka JRA. This time he’s aboard the 10-year-old black Indoctro gelding with whom he has placed sixth in his last two starts – the CCIO4*-NC-S t Le Pin au Haras and CCI4*-L at Millstreet.

Jonelle has competed only once before at Boekelo and this time lines up with her 10-year-old Irish-bred chestnut gelding Killbunny Andy.

Dan has competed many times at the event over the years, and heads there with his 13-year-old Irish-bred gelding Blackthorn Cruise on whom he placed fourth in the CCI3*-S at Wellington at their last start.

Amanda is on the card with her 11-year-old thoroughbred Good Timing for just their second 4*-L start. The Kiwi combo have had just two international starts since heading to Europe in 2021.

Boekelo is one of 10 events on the FEI Nations Cup calendar for 2022, however with two cancelled it is now down to just eight, with this event the final in the series. New Zealand is currently in seventh place on 210 points. Germany lead on 380, with Italy in second on 360, Sweden in third on 330, and France rounding out the top four on 270.

There are 76 combinations entered. The first horse inspection is on Wednesday, followed by two days of dressage, the Adrian Ditcham (GBR) designed cross country on Saturday and the Kris van Gelder (NED) showjumping course on Sunday.
