Exciting jump-offs and plenty of fun were the order of the day at the two day Fiber Fresh Spring Series Grand Prix Showjumping Show at Woodhill Sands at the weekend.

While there were just three series classes, each attracted good competitive entries.

Three of the original 11 starters came back for the jump-off in the Harrison Lane (in conjunction with Alltech) Pro-Am Rider Series where Michelle Wakeling (Wellsford) aboard BMW Chaccolilli and Taryn Skelton-Kyd (Auckland) with BMW Numero Uno battled it out for top honours. In the end it was Michelle whose faster round of 50.76 seconds edged out Taryn who stopped the clock in 51.44. Both picked up four faults in the jump-off, with Laura McGregor (Auckland) aboard Emmaville Dontango third on nine faults.

Twelve lined up for the Dunstan Horsefeeds (in conjunction with Veterinary Associates Equine) Amateur Rider Series class where Ashley Johnston (Whangarei) and Miss Vee NZPH picked up on their form of last season to take the win from Jeremy Clark (Te Kauwhata) on Dynavyte Cancion HSH, with Tammy White (Whangarei) on Triple Star White Out in third. Jeremy was also fifth and sixth with Dynavyte Ipso Facto and Triple Star Destiny’s Accolade respectively.

Calypso Hill (Auckland) bagged first and third in the Mainland Coachwork (in conjunction with Alltech) Junior Rider Series class after an exciting five-way jump-off. She headed the 19-strong field home with a double clear in 46.42 seconds aboard Pythia, and placed third with Cuba Cuba who was also all clean in 49.71. Lucas Bremner (Whangarei) and LT Holst Francis put paid to her quinella with their 49.26-second effort for second place.
