New Zealand eventers have been busy at various events over the weekend in both England and Scotland.
Caroline Powell and CBI Aldo placed fourth in the CCI3*-L at the Blair Castle International Horse Trials in Scotland, finishing on a score of 34.1 penalty points. The 65-strong class was won by Tom McEwen aboard Brookfield Cavalier Cruise who completed on 22.9
She and Legally Grey posted a 33.9 penalty point score for a ninth place finish in the 94-strong CCI2*-L which was won by Wills Oakden aboard Keep it Cooley on 28.3.
There were plenty of Kiwis in action at the Wellington International Horse Trials in England where Dan Jocelyn was fourth and sixth in the CCI3*-S with Blackthorn Cruise (32.5) and Cooley One to Many (33.5). Alexander Bragg and Quindiva headed home the 70 combinations on 30 penalty points.
Samantha Lissington and Ricker Ridge Valentina were seventh on 33.9, Andrew Nicholson with Erin 11th on 36.6, Ginny Thompson and Cooley Wish Upon a Star 12th on 37.3, and Jonelle Price with Fernhill Kankan 15th on 40.1. Madison Crowe was 18th with Hildare SM Quentin and 22nd on Hildare Hermitage.
Fifty-eight combinations started the cross country with 60.3% coming home clear and inside time. Combinations at seven and eight proved problematic for many.
In the 94-strong CCI2*-S, Andrew Nicholson and Fenizo were seventh on a score of 31 penalty points. The class was won by Johanna Marloh aboard Crazy Carlotta on 25.1. Eighty-two combinations lined up for the cross country where 67.1% came home clear.
