The mid-year ESNZ jumping and dressage squads with a few changes across both.

World Champs representative Gaylene Lennard is the only addition to dressage’s four-strong High Performance Futures squad. She joins John Thompson, Melissa Galloway and Vanessa Way.

High performance general manager Jock Paget says it is great to see her ticking all the boxes en route to the world stage. “We tightened up the criteria last year and it is great to see these combinations step up to it. It really is an exciting time for dressage and fantastic we have a team going to the World Champs for the first time since 1998.”

Jumping has been fine-tuned as it heads towards the end of its first year as a fully-functioning end-to-end pathway in New Zealand.

Jock says those changes have come through the squads as the programme gets closer to its intended capability. Those targets are different for each squad, moving from exploration to development, then transitioning to a more holistic high performance athlete, with the top two being results focused.
