The ESNZ Eventing Board is pleased to advise that the proposed changes to the Board structure have now been accepted. This follows a robust process, firstly around the Board table, then review by the membership, followed by approval of the Eventing By-Laws changes by the ESNZ Board.

ESNZ Eventing Chair Margaret Evans said that a lot of thought had gone into developing a structure which the Board feels will be effective and efficient and represents the key stakeholders. The election process will be more consistent and engage the eventing community well, and all position terms standardised to three years. The new structure and election process are the result of a great deal of hard work and she acknowledged the Board members’ contributions and commitment, and those from the eventing community who provided valuable feedback.

The positions on the Board now comprise  three elected Board members (voted in by Area Delegates at the Eventing AGM), one rider representative (voted on electronically by riders who have evented in the last 12 months), one Organising Committee representative (voted on electronically by OCs) and two appointed members (appointed by a Board-convened panel and ratified at the AGM). The Board now also has the ability to co-opt members from time to time to complement the Board’s collective skill set. The Technical Advisory Group Chair (or alternate) attends all Board meetings. Implementing these changes to the Eventing Board Structure commences immediately with the positions due for rotation at this year’s 2022 AGM in July and will  complete in 2023 as incumbent Board member’s terms end.

Positions available this year are:

  1. One elected Board member.
  2. One elected Rider Representative Board member.
  3. One appointed Board member.

The ESNZ Eventing Board will commence advertising each of these positions over the next few weeks together with more detail regarding the skills sought, job description, application process, and the election procedures.

If you interested in one of these positions and require more information, you may contact the Eventing Chair Margaret Evans on 027 4477 358 to discuss.
