Eventing Southland held their Christmas event at Ryal Bush on Sunday 19th December.  Good entries were received, despite the busy time of year.

The Saddlery Warehouse CCN2*-S was won by Suzanne Black on Colton AF closely followed by Annabelle McKnight on her new  mount DSE Samalam, making the step up to 2* look easy.

Kate Hamilton and Ill Mafioso continued their good form to take the win in the Eastern Physiotheraphy CCN105-S, once again leading from start to finish.

A depleted Witches Brew CCN95 class saw Katrina Cook and Dixie take the win after both the first and second in the dressage withdrew.

The Excel Equine NZPC95 class was won by young up coming rider Sophie White and Second Edition who also finished third on her second mount Call Me Pengu.  Sophie has only just stepped up to 95 and is one to watch.

Heidi Kendrick and SWE Ferrero Rocher won the Equine Sports Gail Richardson CCN 80and Bella Edwards and Little Ginge won the biggest class of the day the Comfy Equine Rubber Matter PC 80 class.

Shelly Vince on the evergreen Miyargi were the only combination to finish on their dressage score to take the win in the Saddle Tree CCN65 the same happened in Churchy’s and HT Oils PC 65 with Amelie Apte and Sans Legacy wining.

Udy’s Grain and Seed First start class was split in 2 with Meila Iosefo and Maxwelton Wonder Woman winning the under 16 class and Sienna Hunter and Strathisla Primadonna winning the over 16 class.

For this event Uberhorse donated a prize which we presented to the Best Conditioned horse.  This was judged by Janene Maxwell and Helen Christie and awarded to Suzanne Black and Colton AF.

The AB Lime teams competition that is running over the five Eventing Southland events is currently being lead by the team ‘NO Brakes’.  There is still time to enter for this event before the next event at Donovan Park on the new date, one week later, on 6th February.  So get three friends together as long as you have one competing in 95 or above and the other in 80 or 65, the other can be in any class.(except FS).  The best 3 scores count and good prizes including $1000 to winning team.  Look on Eventing Southland FB page for entry form and details.

Thanks to the Sponsors who are really appreciated and the  Committee, landowners and Officials.  This was quite a challenging event, and special thanks to John McGiven the lead Technical Delegate who interrupted his holiday to officiate at the 11th hour.  It was hugely appreciated.
