Greta Dale and Highland’s Lad out hunting with South Canterbury Hunt.

Jumping is thrilled to announce the South Canterbury North Otago Area recipient of the ESNZ and NZPH Star Spotters Scholarship 2021-2022. This is first of twenty Star Spotters scholarships to be awarded for this season. Every area throughout New Zealand has been given the opportunity to select one up and coming young rider under the age of twenty five as their recipient.
The first of these scholarships has been awarded to Greta Dale. Greta is 11 years old, and has had her pony, Highland’s Lad known at home as Harry, for 2 years. Greta and Harry attend Pleasant Point Pony Pony Club, and have been competing at A&P Shows in Show Hunter.
Greta’s goals for this season are to compete in Category B Show Hunter and have a go Show Jumping 90cm. Greta said “I have been hunting this season which has been great for our confidence and lots of fun.” Greta plans on attending all three SCNO Shows and travel to some further away.
This scholarship aims to encourage riders to make the step up into ESNZ registered Show Jumping and Show Hunter by offering a free full year of ESNZ membership for the rider, and one year registration for their horse or pony. Both Greta and the SCNO area wished to express their thanks to NZPH and ESNZ for this opportunity.
