It was top 10 for both Tim Price and Samantha Lissington in their respective classes at the Luhmuhlen International Horse Trials in Germany overnight.

Tim and Vitali were sixth in the MeBmer Trophy CCI4*-S with a lovely clear showjumping round to finish. “Today was good,” said Tim. “It was very stiff competition.” Vitali jumped clear to finish on 28 penalty points with Michael Jung (GER) and fischerChipmunk FRH holding their lead to take the win on their 21.4 penalty point dressage score. Second was Sandra Auffarth (GER) aboard Viamant du Matz on 27.1 and third Andrew Hoy (AUS) and Vassily de Lassons on 27.6.

Tim was also clear aboard Senza Fine. His two mounts were among the 21 who were clear and inside time in the showjumping. Forty-nine of the original 66 starters completed the class.

Samantha withdrew a rather sore Ricker Ridge Sooty GNZ before the final test. “The intense heat here hasn’t been kind on the ground conditions this week,” she said. “He is perky and will enjoy being back in his paddock for a roll.”

In the Longines CCI5*-L, she was only Kiwi to complete all three tests, finishing in seventh place with Ricker Ridge Rui. “We are over the moon with Rui today,” she said. “It was a big track and he jumped super – an awesome result for a very last minute change of plans!”

Samantha paid tribute to those around her. “It has been a huge effort from everyone involved. I am feeling very lucky to have the support crew that we have.”

Fifteen of the original 25 starters completed the showjumping with just five going clear and inside time. The class was won by Mollie Summerland (GBR) and Charly van ter Heiden who led from the start and added just 1.2 time penalties in the showjumping to finish on 30.2 penalty points. Finishing second was Christoph Wahler (GER) aboard Carjatan S on 32.1 and in third place was Ariel Grald (USA) aboard Leamore Master Plan on 37.4. Samantha added 5.2 to her score to finish on 45.7.
