Natalia Lammers has been named a Kauri Grant recipient.  In this latest round of applications submitted to the Kauri Club (Northland), 12 athletes from 10 sports codes have received grants to help them partake in competitions and events in their chosen sport/s.

This funding will mainly assist the athletes to cover some of the many expenses incurred in travelling to events outside the region. Applications are assessed by the Northland Sports Talent Development Panel made up of representatives from the Far North, Kaipara and Whangarei Districts and Sport Northland.

Natalia has been successful in both the Mainland Coachwork Junior Rider Series and FMG Young Rider Series this season.

Over $250,000 has now been allocated to talented Northland Sportspeople since the Kauri Club was formed in 2000.  The funding was received from the family of the late Garry Frew and the Brian Maunsell Memorial Trust fund and the grants are aimed to assist talented up and coming athletes to help them achieve their sporting achievements and further their sporting pathway.

Since its inception, over 600 athletes from across Northland have received a grant or scholarship – some of which include Northland sports icons such as Samantha Warriner and Blair Tuke.

Panel member, Colleen Atchison says “It is great to follow the progress of the athletes who have received Kauri Club grants in the past, some previous recipients such as Blair Tuke and Stacey Michelson will be representing New Zealand in their respective sports at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics while Cameron Leslie has been selected into the Paralympics team. So, it is great to follow these Northlanders who are achieving at the highest level”.
