Eventing Southland in conjunction with Gore Pony Club held their CCN-S at Gore Racecourse on Sunday 14th February.   A lot of hard work had gone into the Cross Country course with the fences being beautifully presented, which was appreciated by riders and spectators alike.  The courses rode well, with riders’ commenting that the Debra Gibson designed course was inviting but offered enough questions to keep them thinking.

A few experienced campaigners came out of semi retirement to figure in the placings in the top three classes.  Ivanoff and Paige Hardwick set the ball rolling in the Eastern Physiotherapy CCN 105 to show the rest how it was done, with them being the only ones to finish on their dressage score.  Montana Hewson and Southern Charm were 2nd and Kate Hamilton on Il Mafioso 3rd.

Pythagoras and Ashleigh Butson took the win in the HT Oils CCN95 from Lana Medder on Glenfern Dennis and Helen Green on Cooper 3rd.

Katie Wilson and Hazy Grey won the Excel Equine NZPCA 95 class with a good dressage score and one rail to add still being enough to beat the 2 double clear rounds from Chloe McKenzie on Miss Renegade and the new combination of Sarah Beck and King Curtis 3rd.

The Gail Richardson CCN80 class was won by Kim Bennett and Shes A Drama Queen from Levi Henry on Mac and Anailise Hini on Flash Gris 3rd.

Comfy Cow Rubber Matting NZPCA 80 class was taken out by the new combination of Ahna Norman and Goldrush from Bella Edwards on Little Ginge and Sophie Horton on Bella 3rd.

Rochelle O’Hara on Wemblybrook Tip Top won the Witches Brew CCN 65 class from Peggy Angus-Cook and Hannah McLaren.  Churchy’s NZPCA 65cm class was won by Kate Stalker on Buster from Sophie White  and Caitlyn Cook.

Udys Grain and Seed First Start class was taken out by Iris Hindrup on Hikumutus Bigger the Better with the best dressage score of the day and finished on that score of 22.3.

Many thanks to the small team of volunteers that worked hard to make this event happen, and of course a tremendous thank you to our wonderful sponsors.
