It was grass all the way at the Pacific Motor Group Grand Prix Showjumping Show at Woodhill Sands on Saturday, much to the delight of the riders.

It was the first time this season the grass arena had been used. The one-day show attracted just under 200 horses with some exciting jump-offs across the top classes. Show organiser Angela Nobilo said the show had “the most lovely atmosphere” and the breeze had kept temperatures just right for all.

Paula Mussen (Pukekohe) and Déjà Vu NZPH headed home the eight-strong Harrison Lane Pro-Amateur Rider class after jumping off against India Causebrook (Pukekohe) aboard Westminster Rock. Both were double clear with Paula more than two seconds faster.

In the Mainland Coachwork Junior Rider Series, Maddison Greatorex (Mangapai) and Daisy Duke NZPH took the win with the only clear of the opening round. The combination also placed fourth in the Pacific Motor Group Grand Prix Super Series.

Fifteen started the Dunstan Horsefeeds Amateur Rider class with 10 coming back for the jump-off where Jessica Toomey (Cambridge) and Starlight Destiny just snuck home ahead for the win by .81 of a second ahead of Michelle Wakeling (Wellsford) on BMW Braveheart.

Glen Beal (Pukekohe) and All Expenses of Renton took out the Pacific Motor Group Grand Prix Super Series class with Samantha-Lee Wakeling (Wellsford) and BMW Sharpshooter winning the GJ Gardner Pony Grand Prix Super Series class.

Wayne Bragg designed the courses in ring one, with Danielle Watts charged with ring two and Edward Bullock challenging the riders in ring three.
