Planning on competing in Jumping Series Classes this season? Make sure you are complying with the jumping rules before you compete!
Please note this is a quick summary, please check the jumping rules for all series conditions.

All extracts in italics have been taken from Annex 11 in the Jumping Rules effective 1st August 2020, V13, Build 1,072. 

For all Series Classes:

  • Make sure you and your equines registration is current as points will not be given retrospectively if it has expired at the time of competition.
    3.7. Series points may be removed and re-allocated retrospectively if a horse or rider is found to be non-compliant with the Jumping Series Conditions at the time of competition.

  • Points will not be awarded for first round faults of 12 or more
    2.9. Riders gaining first round faults of 12 or more do not gain points in ANY series.

Pony Grand Prix

  • All ponies must have a current or life height certificate on file with ESNZ to receive series points
    2.1. Ponies: This Series is open to any pony registered with ESNZ with a RAS life certificate or a current RAS height certificate and is six years old and over.

 

Pro-Am

  • Riders in these series must be an owner, part owner or registered leasee of the equine
    2. Qualification:2.1. Competitors must ride horses that are registered with ESNZ in their name as owner or part owner or registered leasee.

  • Riders must be 22 years or older to compete in this series
    2.2. Competitors: Competitors may take part in this Series from the first day of the season during which they reach the age of 22, the season being from 1 August until 31 July

  • Riders cannot have placing and/or won prize money in any jumping class greater than 1.35m in the current season.
    2.3. Competitors may not have placed and/or won prize money in classes higher than 1.35m in jumping during the current season.

Amateur 

  • Riders in these series must be an owner, part owner or registered leasee of the equine
    2. Qualification:2.1. Competitors must ride horses that are registered with ESNZ in their name as owner or part owner or registered leasee.

  • Riders must be 22 years or older to compete in this series
    2.2. Competitors: Competitors may take part in this Series from the first day of the season during which they reach the age of 22, the season being from 1 August until 31 July; hence Competitors may not take part in the Young Rider Series at the same time.
  • Riders cannot have placing and/or won prize money in any jumping class greater than 1.25m or Pro-Am or 4* eventing in the previous seasons and current.
    2.2.1. Competitors may not have placed and/or won prize money in any jumping class greater than 1.25m or the Pro-Am Class or 4* eventing competition, during the current or preceding season. Excluding places in special classes. i.e. Two Fence Challenge, Six bar, Gamblers Stakes and five and six year old horse competitions.

 

New Zealand Tertiary Jumping Championship 

  • This series is open to any student enrolled at a recognised New Zealand tertiary education institute with an issued photo ID 
    2. Qualification:
    2.1. Competitors will be eligible to take part in this Series when they are enrolled as a full or part-time student at any recognised New Zealand tertiary education institute and they have been issued with a photographic student identity card from that same institute through until the start of the following academic year or the completion of the Series Final (whichever date last occurs).

  • All riders in this series MUST send in their student ID to ESNZ Jumping prior to competing. Points will not be given restrospectively
    2.2. Competitors will be required to register for this Series by emailing a copy of their tertiary student ID (or a copy certified by a New
    Zealand solicitor or JP) to ESNZ Jumping, [email protected], before obtaining any points in the Series.

 

Age Breeders Series

  • Any horse competing in an age breeders series class MUST have their Sire, Dam and Sire of Dam listed on their equine’s id page.
    2.3. The ESNZ identification Papers (“IP”) must be completed and the breeding must be completed with Sire, Dam and Sire of Dam as a minimum. Any exceptions to this rule will only be made in a written application to ESNZ giving a full reason for the inability to establish the breeding. No reason needs to be given by ESNZ for declining to give permission for horses not having proof of breeding taking part in the Series.
