The first Premier Show of the South Island Season is being held this weekend at McLeans Island, The South Island National Equestrian Centre. The Show Jumping Canterbury Christmas Cracker Show is always popular and has fielded 350 riders from throughout the South Island. Donella Still is the Ring 1 Course Designer, Emma Barker is designing Ring 2 and Geoff Bryant is in charge of designing Ring 3.
Show Jumping action got underway today (Friday) with all the age series classes. Katie Meredith is bringing along an impressive young team and the results showed this today. Katie and The Prosecutor GNZ took out the Matthews Hanoverians 7year old series class. Owned in partnership with Kaye Buckley, The Prosecutor GNZ is a Holsteiner/Thoroughbred Cross gelding by Lordano out of a Grosvenor mare. Courtney Townsend and her Corofino II mare Corofina ECPH finished Second in the 7yo class and won the Main-Events Universities Series class.
Katie’s Success continued being the sole winner of the Cheleken & Ultramox 6 year old series class with Jennie Pike owned and bred Eye Candy, by Eurosport Centavos.
The East Coast Performance Horses 5 year old Series class had two winners. Katie Meredith featured again this time with the Cartell GNZ gelding Vulcan GNZ, owned in partnership with Pauline Quigley. Tamara Silcock and her Andretti gelding Augustus B was the other winner.
Competition continues tomorrow with all three show jumping rings starting at 8am.
