Rules help in providing fair competition for everyone.

It is important to know your rules and what they mean. The rules are instructions that tell you what you are allowed to do and what you are not. All the rules for jumping and show hunter can be found here and general ESNZ rules here

Some particular rules to note for jumping series:

Amateur and Pro-Amateur Rider Series:

The criteria for competing in these classes include:

  • 2.1 Competitors must ride horses that are registered with ESNZ in their name as owner or part owner or registered leasee

Horses registered in family names, trusts, or business names still require the individual rider name listed as owner.

Please contact Membership Services if in doubt and they will assist in any changes required.

5 Year old, 6 Year Old, 7 Year Old Breeding Series

The criteria for competing in these classes include:

  • 2.3 The ESNZ identification Papers (“IP”) must be completed and the breeding must be completed with Sire, Dam and Sire of Dam as a minimum. Any exceptions to this rule will only be made in a written/formal application to ESNZ giving a full reason for the inability to find the breeding. No reasons need to be given for refusals to give permission for horses missing breeding from taking part in the Series.
  • 2.4 Competitors winning prizes must upon the request of the Ground Jury present their horse’s IP to the Ground Jury of the competition. If their IP does not include proof of age, Sire,Dam and Sire of Dam or a dispensation from ESNZ the prize money will be withheld and forwarded to ESNZ’s National Office. This may be uplifted when proof of age and/or breeding is provided to ESNZ.

The required breeding information must be on the Identification Papers registered with ESNZ.
