The on-form combination of Noah Coutts and his new horse Surreal recorded two wins at the Ashburton A&P Show held over the weekend. On Friday they won their third consecutive Equifibre Junior Rider class. They followed this up the next day by collecting the June Cresswell Tray for winning the Open Horse 1.20m Table C.
Surreal and Noah have quickly formed a solid partnership having been together for just 6 weeks. “Rosie’s a super mare. Plenty of revs, sensitive, brave and very honest” says a beaming Noah after their winning weekend. “She has an unorthodox style so there’s an element of keeping calm and hanging in for the ride but we’re working each other out. I’m incredibly lucky and big thanks to Tim Myers for trusting me with her”. Surreal is an 11 year old mare, bred by Vicki Prendergast out of her Olympic eventing mare Sanderston by Cardento VDL.
Noah was a member of the winning South Island trans-Tasman Junior and Young Rider team competing at Werribee in Australia last month. The fifteen year old is a year 11 student at John McGlashan College. Noah has also previously competed at Grand Prix level on the pony stallion Bizzie Canoodling who is now being ridden by younger brother Quinn. Bizzie Canoodling stands at stud at the family’s Mosgiel based Grassyards Farm, who is the sponsor of the Show Hunter NZ Category B Pony High Points Series for this season.
