Tegan Fitzsimon and her stable star Windermere Cappuccino have started their 2019-2020 Season in winning form at the SCNO Area Spring Has Sprung Show held over the weekend at the Southern Canterbury A&P Show Grounds.

On Saturday the combination won the Ron Williamson Open Horse 130-140cm and they followed that up by winning the Equissage Horse Grand Prix today, producing a beautiful double clear round.

Sophie Geddes and Te Ngaio Raggamuffin continued their success from last season winning the Country TV Pony Grand Prix Series Class. Sophie finished double clear in a time of 51.04 to win ahead of local SCNO rider Samantha Gillies on Junior Disco, who were also double clear in a time of 58.44.

The beautifully presented combination of Tamara Coster and Whakanui de L’amour were the winners of the FMG Young Rider Class ahead of Molly Buist-Brown and Vali.

Anna Nalder and Icebreaker II took out the Equifibre Junior Rider Class after a two way jump off with Milly Robinson and Enzo GTO, this is the second Junior Rider win for Anna and Icebreaker who also won at Nelson three weeks ago.

Competition in the Junior and Young Rider classes was still strong despite a team of eight South Island Junior and Young Riders away competing over the weekend in Australia where they were victorious against the Victorians.

The Harrison Lane Pro Am Rider Class had a very competitive jump off after seven clears in the first round. First out in the jump off Olivia Robertson and Grandaire set the pace, clear in a time of 36.28. They held onto their lead until the last combination of Katie Meredith and Ngahiwi Double Cross flew around in 35.98 to win. Third place went to Angela Frewer and Donala Dundee in a time of 36.75.

Margaret Ridley and Tallaght won the Dunstan Horse Feeds Amateur Rider Series Class with a double clear effort.

Sarah Ching flew down from Nelson to design The South Canterbury Saddlery Ring One.  Donella Still was in charge of The Mainland Coachwork Ring 2 and Tony Hutton Designed Ring 3.
