Morocco has proved a happy hunting ground for New Zealand Olympic showjumpers Samantha McIntosh and Bruce Goodin competing at the CSIO4*-W in Rabat.
Bruce and Backatorps Danny V placed third in the two round 1.50m CSIO4*-W World Cup. Sixty-eight started the class with 16 coming back for the second round. Bruce and Backatorps Danny V were one of just four to keep their slates clean throughout the Alan Wade (IRE) designed course. The Kiwi combo stopped the clock at 41.84 seconds in the second round, with winner Bernardo Alves (BRA) and El Torreo de Muze coming home in 40.47.
Bruce also picked up a fourth placing in the 1.45m class aboard Copain Vdb Z where again they finished with zero faults. Fifty-two started the class with 16 coming back for the jump-off. Emanuele Gaudiano (ITA) and Carlotta 232 took the top honours, going double clear in 31.53 seconds, with Bruce and Copain Vdb Z also all clear in 35.08 seconds.
Samantha and James S finished fourth in the 1.45m Grand Prix qualifier, with a clear round in 61.68 seconds. Ramzy Al Duhami and High Quality J took the win in 58.91 seconds.
Samantha also placed eighth in the 1.45m winning round class aboard Alaid de Chez Nous. Forty-seven started the class with 12 coming back for the jump-off where the Kiwi combo picked up four faults in the 36.93 second round. Abdullah Alsharbatly (KSA) and Gain Line won with a double clear in 34.8.
