Tim Price has both his horses in the top seven at the end of the CCI5*-L dressage at Les 5 Etoiles de Pau in France this week.
Wesko sits in second spot on a score of 25.6 penalty points with Ascona M in seventh on 28.1. Tom McEwen (GBR) and Toledo de Kerser leads the 44-strong field on 24.9. James Avery and Mr Sneezy scored 38.
ESNZ high performance eventing manager Graeme Thom said it was a disappointing result for James, especially given how well the horse had been preparing.
“Tomorrow’s cross country course will have an impact on the leaderboard and so will the weather which is forecast to be 26 degrees and sunny after highs in the low teens for the past week,” he said.
Graeme felt the horses running later in the field would surely get the benefit of some cooling temperatures. “The Kiwi horses are very fit and well, and we are looking forward to tomorrow’s test.”
