New Zealand showjumpers have found great form across the globe this weekend with Bruce Goodin in Morocco, Uma O’Neill and Guy Thomas in California and Sharn Wordley in Pennsylvania.

Bruce and Backatorps Danny V placed fifth in the Grand Prix de Sa Majeste le Roi Mohammed VI at the CSI4*-W El Jadida in Morocco. They were clear in the opener but picked up four in the second, coming home in 37.39 seconds. The 20-strong class was won by Roberto Turchetto (ITL) and Baron who were double clear in 36.98 seconds.

Bruce also picked up a sixth placing aboard Copain in the show’s other ranking class. “It has been a great time down here,” he said. “Three very nice, well organised competitions and both horses have been super consistent.”

Uma O’Neill picked up a number of prizes at the Del Mar International Horse Show in California. She and Clockwise of Greenhill Z placed seventh in the $36,500 CaptiveOne 1.50m Grand Prix Qualifier which was won by her trainer Mariano Maggi (SWE) aboard Uma’s horse Sanvano. Mariano was double clear in 34.43 seconds, with Uma double clear in 37.45 seconds. Guy Thomas and Jonkheer Z placed 13th in the class and were just out of the money.

Uma then teamed up with Edelweiss to place seventh in the $36,500 Hermes Sellier Sunshine 1.45m against the clock class which was won by Andrew Ramsay (USA) aboard California who were clear in 70.12 seconds. Uma and Edelweiss were all clear in 74.39 seconds. The top seven combinations all had clean slates.

Uma and Clockwise of Greenhill Z were just out of the money in the 1.6m $100,000 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup Del Mar class which was won by Ashlee Bond (ISR) aboard Donatello who were double clear in 38.82 seconds. Uma and Greenhill picked up five in the opener while Guy and Jonkheer Z retired.

Across the country, Sharn Wordley was picking up prizes in the $134,000 Grand Prix de Penn National at the CSI3* Pennsylvania National Horse Show. He and Barnetta placed fifth in the class that was won by Molly Ashe Cawley (USA) aboard Adamo who were double clear in 34.06 seconds. Sharn and Barnetta picked up four penalties in the =jump-off.
